Introducing the NZ Overseas Relocation Grant

The Overseas Relocation Grant is an exciting initiative designed to attract talented teachers from overseas to join the New Zealand education system. It aims to provide financial support and make the transition to your new teaching role as smooth as possible. As an overseas-trained teacher coming to New Zealand to fill a teaching vacancy, or a returning New Zealand trained teacher, you may be eligible for an Overseas Relocation Grant of up to $10,000 NZD (GST inclusive).

Overseas Relocation Grant Eligibility Checklist

• You must be registered and certified by the Teaching Council of New Zealand

• Your role must be starting from 1st July 2023 – 30 June 2024 and your contract must be at least 12 months in a:

• • State or state-integrated school (excluding independent schools)
  • Licensed early learning centre (note: limited to one place per centre, per year for the Overseas Finders Fee)

• Any overseas teacher must not have been teaching in a NZ school or licensed early learning service for the 12 months prior to their start date.

• You must apply for the grant within 90 days of commencing employment in the school or early learning centre.
