Teaching Salary Guide 2022/23

Read on to see how much each state pays their teachers!

Which state in Australia is king? The age-old question that continues to divide the nation.

NSW vs QLD – Who has the best beaches?

NSW vs VIC – Who has the best CBD?

SA vs No-one – Who has the best churches?…

One question we want to clear up today is which state provides the most competitive salary for their teachers. If you want to find out how each state’s teaching salary stacks up against each other, then you’ve come to the right place! In this blog, we’ll give you an overview of the average teacher salary by state in Australia.

For our overseas readers:

Did you know that Australian teachers are paid some of the highest salaries in the world? In fact, according to a recent study, Australia ranks 5th out of all OECD countries when it comes to teachers’ earnings. One of the main reasons Australian teachers are paid so well is because teaching is considered a highly skilled profession. In addition to having to meet stringent qualification requirements, teachers must also possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

The great thing about the Australian education system is that it’s very decentralized. So, each state implements its own salary award for teachers depending on experience and qualifications. It can be difficult to find out how much is possible to earn depending on your experience between states, but don’t worry, we’ve done the research for you!

NSW Teacher Salary
